Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has put his five-bedroom mansion up for sale for £3.5 million.

Just six weeks after his wife Lady Catherine Ferguson died aged 84, he put the beautiful 7,000 sq ft Cheshire home, with a games room and traditional tartan carpet, up for sale.

The ‘impressive’ detached home is located on what estate agents call ‘one of Cheshire’s most sought after roads’ and sits on a ‘very private, gated and secure’ plot.

The house is “deceptively spacious,” according to the home listing, and has a beautiful reception room outfitted with a wraparound staircase and a grand chandelier.

Sir Alex, 81, and Lady Catherine were married for 57 years and had three sons. The couple, who have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, lived together in the property at the time of Lady Catherine’s death.
