Manchester United academy graduate Omari Forson was given a first start for the Red Devils against Fulham.

Manager Erik ten Hag was left scratching his head trying to find a solution to his side’s attacking woes following Rasmus Hojlund’s injury, and has turned to the 19-year-old player as his replacement.

He will line up in an attacking three that costs just £325,000 – that figure being the fee United paid for Alejandro Garnacho in 2020.

Marcus Rashford completed the front three, which did not include Antony – a player on which United spent more than 261 times what the starting trio cost (£85 million).

The Brazilian was once again on the bench for the Red Devils as his difficult spell at the club continued.

Forson had made a handful of appearances for the club so far, one of which came in the league when he came on as a late substitute for Hojlund in the 4-3 win over Wolves earlier this month.

His other two appearances have come in the FA Cup, although he is yet to score a senior goal.

He spent three games in the Premier League prior to the match against Fulham and scored eight times in Premier League 2 last season. He can play through the middle or wide.

United announced on Friday that Hojlund, who has been the Premier League’s most in-form striker since Christmas Day, will be out for up to three weeks due to a muscle injury.

Anthony Martial is already out after groin surgery, leaving United without a recognized striker until Hojlund returns.

United are now forced to get creative to tackle the race for the top four, which sees them battling AStone Villa and Tottenham, leaving them little room for error.

United have only been able to determine their first choice twice this season

Elsewhere in the team, Victor Lindelof was named at left-back following news that Luke Shaw could miss the rest of the season, with Harry Maguire partnering Raphael Varane in the center of defense in the absence of Lisandro Martinez.

United have only managed to appoint their first-choice back-4 once this season.

Kobbie Mainoo started again in midfield, alongside Casemiro and captain Bruno Fernandes.
