Manchester United ‘halve their asking price for Swedish winger Anthony Elanga to £10m’

Manchester United ‘halve their asking price for Anthony Elanga to £10m’…with the Swedish winger surplus to requirements after Erik ten Hag started him just once this year

  • Manchester United have reportedly halved the asking price for Anthony Elanga
  • The winger’s price tag is now £10 million as he is surplus to requirements
  • The Swede has only started one game this season and has not played since April

Manchester United would have halved the asking price for Anthony Elanga, while the winger was redundant at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old Swede went through the youth academy of Manchester United and made his first debut for the Red Devils in 2021.

Elanga, however, made just one starting appearance in the last six months, in the League Cup against Charlton Athletic, and has not featured in the Premier League since coming through Liverpool in the last five minutes of Man United’s 7-0 hammering.

While loan spell Man United planned to give Elanga more playing time next season, his peripheral status at the club has also led them to consider reduced offers for the winger, now carrying a £10m price tag down from the previous £10million price tag. 20m, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

If he left the club in the summer, his last appearance for the Red Devils would likely be against Sevilla in April, which saw Man United knocked out of the Europa League. It is expected that he will not be in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

The winger is having a hard time under Erik ten Hag and has not played since the Europa League

Rio Ferdinand recently named the youngster one of four players that could be sold by Manchester United in the transfer window Atmosphere with Five Youtube Channel “he doesn’t stand a chance.”

Elanga has made 55 appearances for Manchester United in the past two years, scoring four times, most recently in the Champions League knockout stage against Atletico Madrid in February 2022.

Most of his starts have come under the interim reign of Ralf Rangnick, who has captained Man United for most of the 2021-22 season.

But under new management this season he was squeezed out, with Erik ten Hag opting to play some of the other left wingers available to him.

The Swede is not the only player who may leave Manchester United this summer, with the club expecting to have more departing players than new arrivals.

Fred has sparked interest from Fulham after the midfielder was seen talking to Marco Silva after the Premier League clash between them on Sunday.

Meanwhile, ten Hag previously said Harry Maguire must make a ‘decision’ about his future at Manchester United, with his role this season being limited to that of a supporting actor.
