Manchester United flop Anthony Martial has reportedly been offered to Inter Milan as the French striker prepares to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The 28-year-old, who has not played since early December due to injury, will see his contract with United expire at the end of June.

According to Gazetta dello SportSerie A leaders Inter were given the opportunity to sign Martial for nothing.

The report says that Inter will evaluate the merits of signing him, but that this is not their target as number 1 striker.

The biggest drawback is Martial’s injury record, with constant setbacks preventing him from reaching his full potential at United.

The Frenchman has scored just twice this season, against Everton in the Premier League and against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, with his playing time limited by illness and injury.

It is not the first time Martial has been linked with Inter, but the Italian club’s main target is Genoa and Iceland’s Albert Gudmundsson.

The 26-year-old Gudmundsson has scored thirteen times this season, but is under contract with Genoa until 2027, which would cost Inter a significant amount.

United signed Martial, then one of the most promising young players in world football, from Monaco in 2015 for a fee that could have risen to £58 million with add-ons.

He scored 17 times in his debut season but has since proven frustratingly inconsistent with a declining goal return and increasing injury problems.

His best return in United colors came when he scored 23 times under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019/20, but he has struggled to replicate that form since.

Martial has been linked with clubs in Turkey and France as he looks to restart his career next season.
