Manchester United fans SLAM Andre Onana for his role in Kingsley Coman’s goal in defeat to Bayern Munich as the goalkeeper find himself stuck to his goal line: ‘It’s the easiest finish he’ll ever have!’

  • United were eliminated from European football when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich

Manchester United fans have criticized Andre Onana for Bayern Munich's goal in their Champions League defeat.

United were completely eliminated from European competition on Tuesday evening when they lost 1-0 to Bayern at Old Trafford, with Copenhagen beating Galatasaray 1-0 to leave the Red Devils bottom of the group.

Erik ten Hag's side won just one of their six group matches and lost four, leaving them fourth and failing to reach the play-off stages of the Europa League.

Kingsley Coman's goal was enough to secure the victory for Bayern, which was completed after 70 minutes following good work from Harry Kane and some difficult defending from United.

Fans condemned Onana on social media for his role in the goal, with the Cameroon international sticking to his line rather than closing the angle for the shot.

“Jesus, Onana is really awful,” said one X user. “How is it that he, 1, almost falls over before Coman gets his shot off, and 2, stays on his line?”

Another added: 'I don't want to keep digging Onana but why does he only come off his line when he's about to ping a ball 60 yards forward and that's it, he literally stands there and gives Coman the easiest finish he will have that someday.'

A third said: 'That is criminal positioning from Onana. Not even an attempt to close Coman down.'

The former Inter goalkeeper has had a mixed start to his time at United. He made a number of mistakes that led to goals, but also helped the team with his ball-playing ability.

There were suggestions that United were interested in re-signing former goalkeeper David de Gea on a free transfer, but it is likely that move will now not go ahead.

Onana will spend some time away from club football in January when he takes part in the African Cup of Nations, and some United supporters may be happy to see him back.

“Why is Onana just sitting there glued to his line, man?” another United fan asked about their goalkeeper on social media after Coman's goal.

“Onana acts like a pro club goalkeeper when she keeps L1 in automatic position,” said another.

United will now have to focus on domestic football after their Champions League exit.
