Manchester United have signed Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for £4.2 million as cover for Andre Onana.

The 25-year-old, the first Turkish player to play for United, arranged a transfer after Dean Henderson joined Crystal Palace for £15 million on Thursday.

“It is a huge honor to join United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club,” said Bayindir.

“I will do everything I can to help this special group of players achieve our ambitions.

‘I can’t wait to get started with such an experienced goalkeeper unit. We will support each other and strive for high standards every day so that each of us is ready to deliver when called upon.”

Bayindir made 40 appearances in all competitions as Jorge Jesus’ side finished second in the Super Lig, won the Turkish Cup and reached the round of 16 of the Europa League before being knocked out by eventual winners Sevilla.

The Turkish international has signed a contract until 2027.
