Manchester United are facing disappointment in their attempts to prise Christian Pulisic away from Chelsea.
United contacted Chelsea last Wednesday regarding a loan for the USA international and have left those talks on hold while they finalise the £70m signing of Casemiro and pursue potential deals for Ajax winger Antony and PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo.
Chelsea were reluctant to allow Pulisic out on a temporary basis preferring to sell, yet they had relented slightly showing a willingness to discuss a potential loan if the 23-year old extended his contract first, so protecting their asset.

However, with United taking their time to see what happens with Antony, Pulisic is thought to have reassessed his situation and is now leaning towards staying at Stamford Bridge.
His preference, if he were to leave, would be to join a club that is playing in the Champions League but he is also happy to stay and fight for his place under Thomas Tuchel.
Pulisic is always under consideration for games under Chelsea’s German coach but his frustration has come from not starting enough games.

Chelsea are listening to loan offers for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech so there will be less competition for places once they leave.
Chelsea remain interested in Everton’s Anthony Gordon and are hopeful of a deal for Barcelona’s Pierre Aubameyang but Pulisic still has belief he can make an impact at Chelsea and is prepared to see out this season before taking stock of his situation next summer.
Everton, meanwhile, maintain that Anthony Gordon is not for sale.

Chelsea made an offer last week but Goodison insiders said the true figure was even less than that proposed by Tottenham earlier in the window.
Gordon has yet to sign the new contract offered by Everton and is keen to go but is viewed as key to Frank Lampard’s plans.
Everton are closing on a loan deal for Ajax attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus, 22, while talks are ongoing for Paris St Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye.
