Diallo’s Sunderland side will take on Luton in the two-legged semi-final on May 13, with the second leg scheduled for May 16.
It comes just a month after United boss Erik ten Hag expressed concern over Diallo’s hasty progress, admitting he had ‘reservations’ about his role for next season.
“We’re considering everything, but I have some reservations [recalling Amad] because I don’t want to stop the process,” says Ten Hag.
“He’s made really good progress there, so I’m happy with that.
“But young players need experience and if we decide he will come back, he needs to be a player who can compete for the starting eleven or at least play a lot of games and impress.”

Diallo is nominated for the Championship Young Player of the Season award after scoring 13 goals for the Black Cats
Diallo was brought to Man United by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite being a relatively unknown talent after coming through Atalanta’s youth system.
He signed a five-year contract until 2025 with an option for a further year. His only goal for United came in a Europa League last-16 match against AC Milan.
Diallo’s sparkling form has also seen him nominated for the Young Player of the Season award in the Championship and Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray has warned United not to let another big club lure the young talent away.
“I have a good feeling for Amad that if he is not back at United, he will go to a top Spanish team for a lot of money. He loves football and wants to play, so what do you do when you are at Manchester United? said Mowbray.
“Are you happy yet to be a Manchester United player and make six substitute appearances and two starters in a 60-game season for them? Or do you want to play outside?
So are they going to sell it? When they do, they want their money back, which was reportedly 40 euros or whatever it was.
“I would suggest that they try him at another level and that he go (on loan) to the Premier League, or go back to Italy, Serie A or Spain.”
