Manchester City have turned down a £70 million bid for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to Brazilian publication ge globo.

West Ham are reportedly reluctant to sell the Brazil international and are expected to ask for more than the £70 million fee offered.

Paqueta scored four goals in his debut season in the Premier League and was a vital part of David Moyes’ Europa Conference League squad after joining from Lyon last year.

Moyes is growing increasingly frustrated with the Hammers’ summer transfers and his position at the London Stadium is under threat ahead of his side’s Premier League opener at Bournemouth on Saturday, August 12.

Treble winners City are looking to bolster their midfield options after losing both Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez this summer.

They have already signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, but Pep Guardiola wants even more players so that his side can compete on all fronts again this season.

The City boss has received a boost in defense following the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.

Kyle Walker, City captain at Wembley, has agreed to stay at the club due to strong interest from Bayern Munich in recent weeks.

City will begin their Premier League title defense against Burnley at Turf Moor on Friday 11 August.
