Manchester City ‘have identified Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard as replacement for Kyle Walker’
Manchester City ‘will target Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard’ if Kyle Walker chooses NOT to agree 12-month extension at the Etihad
- Kyle Walker is interested by Bayern Munich, but City want him to stay
- Pep Guardiola’s side will look to Benjamin Pavard if Walker decides to leave
- No agreement has yet been reached between Bayern Munich and the English defender
Manchester City will target Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to reports, if Kyle Walker goes the other way.
The 33-year-old Walker was said to be closing in on a transfer to the Bundesliga champions after reaching personal terms. However, the two clubs have yet to agree on a deal.
Pep Guardiola’s side will look to efficiently replace the long-serving defender by targeting Pavard, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It is said that personal terms have been agreed, but City have yet to negotiate with Bayern.
Pavard made 43 appearances for Bayern in all competitions last season, including 26 in the league.
Manchester City have shortlisted Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard to replace Kyle Walker
Bayern Munich are reportedly in talks with Manchester City to sign Walker
He can operate at right-back and centre-back, but has been used more often in the latter position last season, and his versatility is likely to suit treble-winners City.
At 27, the France international is in his prime and would serve City longer than Walker, who is entering the final years of his career.
Pavard, who joined Bayern in 2019, is entering the final year of his contract and there are no indications he will extend his stay.
Similarly, Walker still has a year left on his contract and questions about his future at Manchester started to surface just a few months ago after the defender admitted he was ‘dismayed’ to be left out of the Champions League final.
City are reportedly holding on to their £15 million asking price for the fullback, of whom Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is an admirer.
Mail Sport previously reported that Sheffield United were keen to bring Walker back to Yorkshire, although a move to Munich would allow him to continue playing Champions League football next season.
