Manchester City are finalizing the terms of a five-and-a-half-year deal for Vélez Sarsfield midfielder Máximo Perrone.
The 20-year-old, who rose through the youth ranks at Vélez before joining the first team in January 2022, will cost the Premier League giants around £8.2m.
Perrone is expected to sign for Pep Guardiola’s team after his participation in the South American Under-20 Championship with Argentina.

Perrone has made 33 appearances for Argentine club Vélez this season. During those outings, he has scored two goals and registered three assists.
He has also represented the Argentina Under-20 team three times, but it remains to be seen if he will play for City this season.
The defensive midfielder will have to fight Rodri and Kalvin Phillips for a place in Guardiola’s team.

Gundogan was Guardiola’s first signing as City manager, joining the club in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund for £20m.
The 32-year-old midfielder has scored 51 goals in 278 appearances for the Premier League giants.
They have also won four Premier League titles during their six years at Manchester, as well as four League Cups and one FA Cup.
The playmaker hopes to add more trophies this season before leaving or staying with the club at the end of the campaign.
