Managing expectations, Joe? Biden tells reporters on his tropical getaway in St. Croix that his NYE resolution is ‘to come back next year’ – despite 2024 deciding fate of the White House

Joe Biden has set his sights on big plans for the new year – after telling reporters his biggest resolution is to “come back next year.”

The 81-year-old president unveiled his special New Year's resolution for 2024 as he climbed into a car during a winter vacation on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The segment, which aired on Fox & Friends, showed a reporter shouting at Biden, “Mr. President, what is your New Year's resolution, sir?'

Biden responds: 'To come back next year.'

Joe Biden has set his sights on big plans for the new year – after telling reporters his biggest resolution is to 'come back next year'

The journalist presses: 'Anything else?' To which the 88-year-old said: 'That is the biggest of the moment.'

His comments confused onlookers – some took his comment to mean re-election in 2024, while others took it as literally a return to the Caribbean paradise that is St. Croix.

Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth joked, saying Biden must mean he's determined to “stay alive” in 2024.

Johnny Jones said, “That's what it feels like, right?” as Rachel Campos-Duffy added, “That's what Obama told him, to stay alive.”

Hegseth echoed what Biden said, joking, “I'll just come back next year — and that's tomorrow.”

Jones said Biden should consider other resolutions such as “don't let the dog bite so many people, don't let the kids get into so much trouble, maybe one of them is, I don't know, secure the border.”

This refers to Biden's German Shepherd, known for biting Secret Service agents, and Hunter Biden and the predicament he has gotten himself into in recent years.

Other people online interpreted Biden's words as something else.

One person wrote, “Joe Biden's New Year's Resolution is to come back (to St. Croix?) next year! Great priorities!'

Another person, still spreading the false narrative that the election was stolen, wrote: “Biden's New Year's Resolution; To come back next year. Notice he hasn't said he'll be re-elected this year, because he didn't get elected last time either, and he knows it!!!'

This comes just one day after an exclusive DailyMail.com poll suggested Nikki Haley is the runner best placed to beat President Joe Biden.

Some people said Biden's resolution should secure the border, rather than returning on vacation to the Caribbean

Our survey of 984 likely voters shows she would beat Biden by five points if an election were held tomorrow.

In contrast, former President Donald Trump would win by three points, while Ron DeSantis would lose by two points, reinforcing the sense that his campaign for president is on life support.

Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, has seen her shares rise in recent weeks, fueled by a series of strong debate performances and major endorsements.

And the results of our survey with JL Partners support her argument that she is better positioned than other candidates to win the 2024 election.

It gives her 40 percent support to Biden's 35 percent in a head-to-head matchup.

Trump would take 46 percent to Biden's 43 percent, while DeSantis would take 41 percent to Biden's 43 percent, all with a margin of error of 3.1 percent.

And according to another poll, Americans support an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden by a clear 12-point margin, with six in 10 believing the president was likely improperly involved in his son Hunter's business deals.

When voters were asked to use one word to describe Hunter, 53, the top answer was “corrupt.” Other popular responses included 'evil', 'criminal', 'crook' and 'guilty'.

The stark results showing most voters believe Biden was linked to Hunter's foreign business dealings come as Republicans prepare to launch their formal impeachment inquiry.

Hunter was also spotted out for lunch in Los Angeles on Wednesday as he faces a slew of tax-related charges in California over allegations that he failed to pay more than $1.4 million to the IRS.

The Republican Party has threatened to charge Hunter with contempt of court for defying a subpoena to testify behind closed doors in their investigation.

On Wednesday, they demanded that the White House turn over any communications showing Joe's involvement in the effort to evade the order.

The White House has maintained that Joe never “did business” with Hunter or benefited financially from his deals, but their shifting defense has raised suspicions.

And since early 2023, Republicans have compiled a growing dossier of evidence that they plan to use in the impeachment inquiry.
