TAMPA, Fla. — The man with whom he became famous on social media TikTok Posts while riding out two hurricanes in his boat, has been arrested in Tampa, Florida.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Office arrest records show Joseph Malinowsky, 54, known as “Lt. Dan was arrested Friday following his TikTok posts for trespassing and failing to appear in court on previous charges of driving an unregistered vehicle and not having a valid driver’s license.
Malinowsky rejected officials’ requests to seek shelter and instead stayed in his boat Hurricane Helene And Hurricane Milton.
Malinowsky, whose nickname comes from a character in the movie “Forrest Gump” who experiences a hurricane in a boat, remained jailed Saturday, according to online jail records.
Court records do not list an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
