Man vows never to shop at Target’s self-checkouts again after staff member’s heavy-handed approach: ‘Sticking to Walmart’

A Target shopper has vowed never to return to the store after an incident with an employee left him shaken.

A Target shopper has vowed never to return after an encounter with staff left him stunned.

“I will no longer go to a Target self-checkout,” TikTok creator Skylouieee said in a recent video.

He explained that he made a “quick trip” to Target to pick up some pain medication and a bottle of Gatorade.

As he packed his bags and walked to the exit, he said a store employee stopped him and asked if he had paid for the drink.

The Target employee reportedly claimed they didn’t see him scan the Gatorade and insisted he speak to the team manager.

“I’m just trying to go home, I’m not trying to start any nonsense,” skylouieee explained to his followers.

‘I showed them the receipt and they finally let me go.

‘He just wanted to start something because he was bored.

“I’m sticking to Walmart from now on,” he concluded on the video.

“Okay, it doesn’t matter if they saw you call for Gatorade or not, if the receipt says you paid for Gatorade, then you paid for it,” one viewer wrote in the comments below the video.

‘That’s crazy. They are usually relaxed in their purpose,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, Walmart has introduced a creative solution to combat shoplifting at its self-checkout counters.

The retailer’s new feature allows customers to simply pass an item over the scanner, registering it without the need for a visible barcode.

This technology works with Walmart’s Great Value products, such as crackers, chocolate bars and croissant sandwiches.

Invisible barcodes, introduced in 2019 through Walmart’s partnership with Digimarc, are printed across the entire product. Although invisible to the eye, these barcodes are easily detected by self-checkout scanners.

The incident involving Skylouieee reportedly occurred at a Target self-checkout.

This hasn’t stopped some very brazen shoppers from continuing to shoplift.

A Walmart customer recently sparked outrage after filming herself shoplifting at a self-checkout – and posting it online.

The woman, whose name is Nesha on TikTok, posted a video of himself pretend to scan items at a self-checkout.

She demonstrated the ‘fake scan’ tactic shoplifters use at self-checkouts.

The thieves scan some items but not others, hoping the staff won’t notice. If they get caught, they pretend it was an accident.

But Nesha immediately gets karma after she tries to steal a backpack – unaware of the new technology Walmart has to catch crooks like her.

She was caught by a worker and given a two-year ban from Walmart stores. She may also face police action.
