Man United’s injury crisis has worsened after Johnny Evans retired prematurely with an injury.

The former Leicester centre-back made his first return to the Champions League in ten years against Copenhagen tonight.

With Lisandro Martinez sidelined with a long-term injury and Raphael Varane only just returning from injury, Evans made his fourth start in six games in all competitions.

But in what is a crucial match for the Red Devils to keep their Champions League dreams alive, the Northern Ireland international was forced off in the 16th minute of the game.

It turned out to be a hamstring injury and the highly experienced Varane was used in his place.
