Fans have been making fun of Manchester United’s Antony after the winger slipped while attempting a skill in their 3-1 FA Cup win over Reading on Saturday.
The Brazilian faced Chelsea loan Baba Rahman on the right wing as he searched for a way into the box. After a few feints, he tried to rush past the defender, but lost his balance, allowing Rahman to remove the danger.
“Antony pretends like someone who learned how to do skills by watching YouTube videos,” one fan tweeted after the blunder, while others claimed his failed trick was “elementary” and that he only had “one skill.”

Some added that he “needs to be more serious with himself” and that the winger “dribbles like he’s not convinced the skill will work.”
It is not the first time that Antonio has been mocked for a failed skill. He came under fire last year after displaying his trademark turn while on acres of space in a Europa League tie against Sheriff Tiraspol.
Apart from his embarrassing mistake, Antony had a solid game against Reading and was named Man of the Match after assisting Casemiro’s opening goal and creating a precise link play throughout the evening.
He assisted fellow Brazilian Casemiro, who scored a brace in the game.

Erik ten Hag spoke enthusiastically about Antony, who joined United for £85m over the summer, after the game, telling ITV: “I think he’s growing.” We want it to be also more dynamic, more variable and more direct. you see today i think [it] It was a beautiful pass on the first goal.
‘It was a good combination, a Brazilian combination, Antony and Casemiro, so we are happy with his improvement at the moment.
“But yeah, there’s still more to come and I think he’s capable of it, I think he has great potential and he has to develop it every day.”
Despite his high price tag, Antony has found the net just five times in 21 games for the Red Devils this season, and has been criticized for appearing predictable and one-footed.
Next, he’ll have the chance to prove his critics wrong when ten Hag’s side take on Crystal Palace on February 4.
