Man United winger Amad Diallo announces tragic death of his mother with eight-word emotional message

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo broke tragic news on Friday evening when he confirmed the death of his mother.

The 22-year-old Premier League star shared a photo of his late mother on Snapchat with the caption: ‘Rest in peace mum, may Allah forgive you.’

It is not yet clear whether Amad will be left out of United’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League match at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The former Rangers and Sunderland loanee played 61 minutes in last week’s 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford.

Following Amad’s heartbreaking news, he was inundated with messages of support from fans on social media.

One fan wrote: ‘We are all with you Amad Diallo. Stay strong king.’

Another message read: ‘Condolences to Amad Diallo and his entire family on the passing of his mother. Stay strong bro and RIP to the beautiful mother.’

Amad spoke about his mother during an interview with manutd.com in June 2021, when he reflected on his United debut four months earlier.

Speaking about his first appearance for United, in the Europa League against Real Sociedad, Amad said: ‘I called my mum after the game and she was in tears. She said she couldn’t believe it.

‘For me it was a great feeling, because playing at the highest level is something you only do once in your life.

‘Mom was really proud of me. She always had faith that I would make it to the top, but she always told me to stay humble, work hard and never give up.

“So when she saw me play for those eight minutes or so, that was everything to her. We couldn’t believe it.”
