Manchester United target Leny Yoro has taken to social media to criticise ‘fake’ transfer claims being made about him.

The 18-year-old Lille defender has been linked with a move away from France this summer, with United having shown strong interest in him.

On Tuesday, French media reported that Lille had accepted a £42m bid from the Red Devils, with Rio Ferdinand urging the youngster to choose United over Real Madrid, Liverpool and PSG.

However, there was an account on X posing as Yoro and claiming he had no interest in a move to Old Trafford.

“I don’t want you @ManUtd. Leave me alone,” read the post from an account with the X-handle ‘Yoro Leny’.

Yoro responded to the claim by informing fans that it was a “fake account”

It didn’t take long for Yoro to see it and he was quick to respond to make sure fans wouldn’t believe it by writing, “Fake account. You guys are psycho. Report this account.”

Yoro’s statement suggests a move to United is a real possibility as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his defence.

United are interested in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and earlier this week also made a second bid for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

United saw a £43million bid for Barnthwaite rejected last month but have since returned with an improved £50million offer, as exclusively revealed by Post Sport.

Ten Hag lost Raphael Varane this summer, who left United when his contract expired, while the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are also uncertain.

It looks set to be a regular starter if Lisandro Martinez is fit next season, but it is not yet clear who will accompany him.

Yoro could be an option if United can get a deal done after impressing in Ligue 1 last season.

Yoro made 32 league appearances for Lille, helping the club finish fourth in Ligue 1 and qualify for the European Championship.

United can also offer Yoro European football after their FA Cup victory in May secured qualification for the Europa League.
