Manchester United have a concrete interest in Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies – and have already made ‘informal inquiries’ to sign him, according to reports in Germany.
It appears Davies, 23, will leave Bayern on a free transfer next summer as his contract at the Allianz Arena expires – barring a late turnaround.
And United could be the club to benefit, with the Canadian on the radar to enter Germany as their first-choice left-back, according to Sky.
The left side of United’s defense is a problem for Erik ten Hag, with Luke Shaw suffering from repeated injuries and the versatile Diogo Dalot having to fill in on either side of the backline, while Tyrell Malacia is out for a long period of time.
Davies could sign a pre-contract with a club outside Germany in January – in ten weeks – but United is not the only option.

Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race to sign the ‘to-be-free’ agent and have long been admirers of his speed and attacking threat down the left flank.
Real signed Kylian Mbappe as a free agent last summer and are thought to be keen to sign another blockbuster freebie to strengthen their defence.
But the transfer has not yet been completed – as indicated by another suitor, Barcelona, earlier this month – leaving a door open for United to potentially strike.
Ten Hag has expressed frustration with player availability in recent times, with left-back being a key area where issues have come to light.
“That holds us back at our level, and also at our position in the competition, because if you don’t have the players, you can’t field the best team,” Ten Hag said this week.

“That’s what’s holding us back right now. We often need more players, and we all have to work together at this point – and that’s the players, the coaching staff and all the other staff members.
‘We have to do our best to get more available players because we know that if we have them we will be a very difficult team to play against.
‘And if we have that, we can be really successful. That is what we have shown in recent months.’
United are 12th in the Premier League and are also yet to win the Europa League, putting their chances of qualifying for the Champions League at risk – which would be a major draw for a player of Davies’ calibre.
