Man United suffer their ‘first injury of the season’ as one of Erik ten Hag’s trusted lieutenants is spotted on crutches after a foot operation ahead of club’s tour of the United States

Manchester United are already struggling with an injury before the season has even started.

Last season, the Red Devils struggled with injuries. Players like Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw were sidelined for a large part of the season.

Erik ten Hag’s men finished eighth, their lowest ever position in the Premier League, but did win the FA Cup.

Preparations for the new season have already started. A number of players will return on Monday to prepare for the new season.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the assistant coach was wheeled to Carrington on crutches after undergoing foot surgery.

The 61-year-old was not present at the training, but is expected to be back on the grass soon.

McLaren, who previously coached clubs including England and Newcastle, has been part of United’s coaching staff since Erik ten Hag joined the club in 2022.
