Man United stars send messages of support to Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he sealed £15m move to West Ham

  • Defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has long been a target for the Hammers

Manchester United players have taken to Instagram to congratulate Aaron Wan Bissaka after he completed a £15million move from Man United to West Ham on Tuesday.

The full-back has signed a seven-year contract with the Hammers, making him their eighth signing of the summer.

Wan-Bissaka played five seasons at Old Trafford and it is clear he was a popular member of the squad.

After the transfer was announced, the Englishman wrote on Instagram: ‘To everyone involved with Manchester United, thank you.

‘You have helped me achieve so many of my dreams and I leave the club with memories that will last a lifetime.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s former teammates at Man United were clearly sad when he left

‘I am so grateful for the love, help and support I have had from the players and staff over the last 5 years and wish you all nothing but the best. Thank you to the fans, you have stuck with us through the ups and downs. I appreciate you. Thank you so much Reds.’

His former teammates were quick to react, with Marcus Rashford saying: “Good luck, mate.”

Jadon Sancho echoed this sentiment, writing: ‘My family! All the best, brother!’

Bruno Fernandes responded with ‘will miss you spin’, while Kobbie Mainoo simply posted a heart emoji.

The defender has been a long-term target for West Ham, but the deal appeared to have stalled last week due to a severance package linked to his salary cut in east London.

But the transfer was pushed through on Monday after the defender completed his medical and could make his debut in the season opener against Aston Villa on Saturday.

“It was a no-brainer for me to go to West Ham. I’m excited and happy to be here,” said Wan-Bissaka.

Bruno Fernandes told the full-back that the team would miss him in the future

“It’s a great feeling to be back in London and I’m excited about what’s to come. I was born here so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a huge part in my life, so to be playing in this city again means a lot to me.

“I’m happy to be here, I’m grateful for the warm welcome and I’m looking forward to playing for the club. I’ll do everything I can.”

“I can’t wait to get out on the field, get to know the players and go from there. I see a team that’s in it together, that pushes each other to win, and a group that supports each other through thick and thin, so being a part of that and having that assurance helps a lot when you’re surrounded by a good team.”
