Manchester United are taking action against Cristiano Ronaldo, confirming they are taking ‘appropriate steps’, in their first statement since his full bombshell interview aired
Manchester United say they are taking ‘appropriate steps’ in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan in which he accused the club of ‘betraying’ him.
The Old Trafford club issued a statement on Friday morning, but declined to say exactly what the measures were, insisting they would not comment “until the process is finalized.”
United’s statement read: “Manchester United have taken appropriate steps this morning following Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not comment further until this process is complete.”
Portugal international Ronaldo, 37, has put his future at United in serious jeopardy after the noncommittal interview in which he criticized manager Erik ten Hag and the club’s ownership.
Sportsmail revealed earlier this week that United are consulting lawyers over whether his comments constitute a breach of his £500,000-a-week contract.
