Man United ‘received loan requests for Mason Greenwood from various Turkish clubs’… after all rape and assault charges against him were dropped, but ‘none of the interested parties have sought a deal for the striker’

Manchester United have reportedly received a number of loan requests for Mason Greenwood from various Turkish clubs.

The 21-year-old was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault in October last year. He was suspended by United and has not appeared or trained with the club since.

The charges were dropped last month by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and now, as United continue their own investigation, it appears Greenwood is attracting transfer interest ahead of a possible return to football.

According the TelegraphSeveral Turkish clubs, and clubs with open transfer windows, have made loan inquiries about the English striker.

The same outlet claims that none of the interested clubs have acted on their interest yet.

Turkey’s transfer window was February 18, but the country’s soccer federation gave him an extension until March 5.

There are only five other countries that still have a transfer window open. They are Iceland, Norway, Moldova, Belarus and the Faroe Islands.

After CPS dropped the charges against Greenwood, United confirmed that it “will conduct its own process before determining next steps.”

A brief statement from the club read: ‘Manchester United take note of the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.

The club will now carry out its own process before determining the next steps. We will not comment further until the process is complete.’

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the withdrawal of the charges last month, citing a “removal of key witnesses and new material coming to light”.

They also mentioned events that meant “there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”

Greenwood, who is on a £70,000 a week contract until 2025 with the option of a further year at United, will not return to training or playing while this internal investigation takes place.

United manager Erik ten Hag is believed to have spoken to Greenwood to check his mental and physical condition and to tell him he was “pleased” the charges were dropped. The team is divided on Greenwood’s return, according to The Times.

Some members of the team harbor concerns about her return, as is reported to be the case with the women’s team, while some have no objection to Greenwood being welcomed back.

Greenwood first joined United at the age of six and made his debut for the club in 2019, in a Champions League win over French side Paris Saint-Germain.

He then earned just one cap for England, against Iceland in September 2020.
