Man United Press Conference LIVE: Erik ten Hag provides the latest on Antony claiming ‘the Brazilian will be in consideration’ for Galatasaray clash after he was spotted in training this week

Erik Ten Hag has revealed that Antony, who was spotted in training this week after returning to Brazil on leave, claimed the Brazilian is ‘being considered to play against Galatasaray on Tuesday’.

‘The facts are that he is not scoring at the moment, but he has had chances, like against Brighton, where he was in a good position five or six times.

“If he works hard and invests every day, with the right focus and if the team around him delivers and helps him with movement, then things will come and Rashford is a player capable of scoring a goal in every game. If he gets to the right spots, he will score.”

‘We know that (quality of Galatasaray). It’s not just about Zaha and Icardi, but there’s also Mertens and Ziyech, so they have a lot more and it’s about the team.

We have to defend that and be at our best to achieve the right result.’

Speaking about what is more important, results or performance, Ten Hag said: ‘Top football is about results, but if the execution is not good, the process is not right, you don’t win, so both.’

‘You have to deal with it. Experienced players know how to deal with it and it’s not the first time we’ve been in this situation because that’s a career, it’s not just highlights, it’s a journey and it will have bumps.

‘Now it’s about character, what you have to show and how you get out of it. There are many positives, but there are also things we need to improve.’

‘I think they’re doing well. They bring energy to the team, they are still learning, which is normal and for players with more experience it is important to lead by example.

“We have a lot to do and as leaders we have to show them and talk to them. Hopefully they can bring talent and passion to the field and improve the team.”

Varane: ‘Yes, I think so. The quality is in the team. The competition is tough, you have to take every detail into account, but we have a team with quality and a good mentality.

”We need to make some improvements. It wasn’t the start to the season we expected, but I still believe we can compete with the best teams in the world.”

‘I can confirm, yes. Licha Martinez will undergo surgery and the team news is that Antony can probably return.”

‘I don’t often comment on referees because they do what they have to do. The standards must be high.

‘You can expect a high standard, just like the fans, and that should be the case because it’s the Premier League. I’m sure they’re doing what they can, I trust them.’

‘I think the competition is about details. You have to be efficient to win, we can improve that in recent weeks by being better in front of the goal.

We have to create a lot to score and that is the reality at the highest level: you have to be efficient to win trophies. We have the quality in the squad to win the league, but we need to improve.#
