Man United ‘open to selling Marcus Rashford after star’s fallout with Erik ten Hag… and club are prepared to drop £80m asking price’

Manchester United are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Marcus Rashford this summer.

The club have decided to retain manager Erik ten Hag following a performance review and that has had an impact on Rashford’s situation, according to The sun.

United are now said to be open to a move for the striker, whose contract expires in 2028.

They had put a value on their No.10 at £80m but have accepted they may have to reduce that figure following his decline in form last season.

After his most prolific season yet at club level in 2022-23, Rashford failed to maintain his goalscoring form.

In 43 games in all competitions, the 26-year-old has managed just eight goals, with his off-field behaviour only damaging his reputation at the club.

The report claims Rashford and Ten Hag ‘barely spoke’ towards the end of the season after the Englishman missed training following a night out in Belfast.

Rashford had already received a warning from Ten Hag earlier this season after he was caught partying following a humiliating derby against Manchester City.

The 26-year-old was not in the squad for the match after the incident in Belfast, but Ten Hag felt he had no choice but to continue using the attacker in the final months of the season.

However, their relationship is ‘shattered’ and it seems like there is no way back.

Towards the end of the season, it was reported that PSG had spotted Rashford as a possible replacement for their departing talent Kylian Mbappe, after previously attempting to sign the England international.

However, Rashford is said to be determined to stay at Old Trafford this summer and acknowledged his performances in Erik ten Hag’s second season at the club were sub-par.

Rashford’s poor club form last season also meant he was left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.

It was the first time Rashford had missed a major tournament for the Three Lions in his senior career, having been included in Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016 in France when he was just 18.

Southgate’s tactics have been widely criticised as his team have struggled to create chances, with Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, claiming on social media that Rashford could have been England’s attacking force.
