Man United 'offer Jadon Sancho to Barcelona in swap deal for ex-Premier League winger' – despite Erik ten Hag insisting the door is still open for the exiled £275,000-a-week star

  • Jadon Sancho has been banned from Man United's first team since September
  • Erik ten Hag had insisted that the door is still open for the 23-year-old's return
  • United are three points behind City… a ranking can LIE. There are rifts between them – It all starts

Jadon Sancho has been offered to Barcelona in a shock transfer swap deal, according to reports.

The winger has been banned from the first team since his public dispute with Erik ten Hag in September.

The former Borussia Dortmund star, who joined the Red Devils in 2021 for £73million, hit out at Ten Hag on social media after the manager claimed he was not working hard enough in training, and tensions have since reached boiling point after the winger's refusal to apologise.

He trained alone at Carrington on full wages, costing United around £4 million in wages under the terms of his £275,000-a-week contract.

However, according to Spanish outlet SportThe 23-year-old could end his purgatory at Old Trafford in January and swap Manchester for Barcelona.

Raphinha is struggling with an injury and sees his place in the starting lineup threatened by the emergence of Lamine Yamal

The outlet reports that Sancho has been offered to Xavi's side in a stunning swap deal for former Leeds winger Raphinha.

The Brazilian completed a £56million move to the LaLiga giants in 2022 and helped the side claim the league title in his debut season.

However, his return of seven goals and seven assists was modest from 36 league appearances. Raphinha has not really improved his goal percentage this season and has increasingly found his place in the starting eleven due to the emergence of Lamine Yamal.

There is also interest in Sancho from Juventus and the Saudi League, while his former club Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a swap deal for Donyell Malen.

But ahead of United's dismal home loss to Bournemouth, Ten Hag indicated there is still time for the England international to stay at United if he is willing to adapt.

“It's about a culture and every player has to meet certain standards and that's what it was about,” said the United boss, who claimed in an interview this week that he had no regrets about his handling of the controversy.

'What's going to happen there, he knows what he has to do if he wants to go back. It's up to him.' When asked whether he thought the money spent on the player's wages was a waste, Ten Hag replied: 'I think that is an internal matter. We'll see what will happen.'
