United drew against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup

Newcastle will have to do it the hard way if they are to be successful in this year’s Carabao Cup after being drawn in the fourth round against Manchester United in a repeat of last year’s final.

Eddie Howe’s side eliminated treble winners Manchester City on Wednesday, beating Pep Guardiola’s team 1-0 at St James’ Park thanks to an Aleksander Isak goal, as scenes of jubilation rippled through the pitch at full-time.

They will be hoping to build on what has been a successful project under Howe so far, and go one step further than last season, after losing 2-0 to Erik ten Hag’s side at Wembley.
