Vermeeren only made his debut last August, but the club already value him at around £20m.

However, Antwerp will not be sold cheap with Vermeeren already valued at around £20m. He’s only made 12 appearances this season, but his recent run of games and the maturity he’s shown has marked him out as a player of great promise.

The midfielder was born in Lier, in the Belgian province of Antwerp, in 2005, and began his youth career at Royal Antwerp in 2018.

Since 2021, he has made 10 appearances for the Belgium under-17 team and, since making his professional club debut, is now expected to revitalize a senior team in low spirits after their World Cup group stage elimination in Qatar .

Royal Antwerp currently sits third in the Belgian Pro League, behind Union Saint-Gilloise and league leaders Genk.

Van Bommel’s side travel to Genk on Sunday afternoon for a league clash, before Royal Antwerp host Eupen next weekend.
