Ajax has released an update on the condition of Edwin van der Sar after the 52-year-old suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on holiday in Croatia.
The club says: ‘Edwin van der Sar will remain in intensive care for the time being. His condition is stable, but still worrying.
‘Ajax shares this information on behalf of Annemarie van der Sar, Edwin’s wife. The Van der Sar family, together with Ajax, are grateful and deeply touched by the many expressions of support.’
The 52-year-old Dutchman was flown to hospital by helicopter on Friday, but is in a stable condition, according to a statement from his former Ajax team.
It read: ‘Edwin van der Sar had a cerebral hemorrhage on Friday. He is currently hospitalized in intensive care and his condition is stable.
