Man United ‘keen to sign Sofyan Amrabat permanently on one condition’ after the midfielder’s loan spell last season

  • Amrabat played 30 games during his loan spell at Man United last season
  • The Red Devils had a £16.8m purchase option included in the original deal with Fiorentina
  • Erik ten Hag is a fan of the midfielder and would like to sign him permanently

Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent basis, but only under one condition.

The Moroccan made 30 appearances during his loan spell at Old Trafford last season, with only nine of those coming in the Premier League as a starter.

He has struggled this season but improved in the closing stages of the campaign, raising questions as to whether he will remain at United permanently.

The Red Devils had a £16.8million purchase option included in the original deal with Fiorentina, but they have decided not to take it up, according to Fabrizio Romano.

However, Erik ten Hag is a fan of Amrabat and United are willing to discuss other terms with the Serie A club in the hope of a permanent transfer.

Amrabat confirmed his intention to stay with United in May, saying Ziggo Sport: “Do I know what I’m going to do next year? No. We’re going to talk. Staying is definitely an option.

“Look, I think it’s been a very difficult season. For Manchester United it has to be much better, and also for me personally. We’re going to talk.

‘Manchester United is the biggest club in the world, so who wouldn’t want to play here? But all parties have to be happy with each other, so we’re going to sit down now and see what happens.’

United have made a brisk start to the transfer market with the signings of defender Leny Yoro for £52million and Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5million.
