Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly in talks with the Cameroon FA about postponing his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 27-year-old has been included in Rigobert Song's Cameroon squad for the upcoming tournament starting on January 15.

Onana's last game for United before joining the national team is expected to be against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But according to ESPNhe wants to make himself available before leaving for the FA Cup match against Wigan on January 8.

Cameroon will have a warm-up base in Saudi Arabia, where they will play Zambia on January 9, a match Onana will miss if he is allowed to postpone his arrival.

He retired from international football after being sent home after last year's World Cup following arguments with FA president Samuel Eto'o and manager Song.

Onana made a shock return to help Cameroon qualify for AFCON in September, but doubts remained over his future in the team until this week's squad announcement.

The Indomitable Lions play their first match against Guinea on January 15, just 24 hours after United face Tottenham in the Premier League.

They will also face defending champions Senegal and Gambia in their final group match on January 23.

Altay Bayindir, a summer signing from Fenerbahce for £4m, is yet to make his debut for United and will be given the chance to stake his claim after continued doubts over Onana's form.

AFCON ends on February 11 and if Cameroon reaches the final stages, Onana will miss some crucial matches.

The former Inter Milan goalkeeper will miss an FA Cup fourth round tie on the last weekend of January as Erik ten Hag's men overcome Wigan.

United take on Wolves on February 1, West Ham just three days later, before taking on Aston Villa at Villa Park on February 11.
