Man United fans call for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to ‘sack Erik ten Hag NOW and hire Mauricio Pochettino’ – after bombshell announcement the Chelsea boss would be leaving the Blues
Manchester United fans are calling on Mauricio Pochettino to take over from Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
On Tuesday evening the bomb news broke that the Argentinian manager would be parting ways with the club after just one season in charge.
Chelsea had endured a turbulent start to the 2023/2024 season, sliding down the table amid a long injury list before making a late comeback to finish sixth in the standings.
Pressure had increased on Pochettino as many wondered why his side, who had spent £1 billion on new signings in the past year, were not performing at the level perhaps expected of them. Yet the Argentinian would seemingly turn things around at the end of the season, with Chelsea going nine games unbeaten.
After noticing the 52-year-old’s recent success with his young side, Man United fans took to social media on Tuesday evening to call on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his leadership group to appoint the now unemployed Argentine football coach.
“United should appoint pooch if they know what’s good for them,” wrote a fan on X (formerly Twitter).
“Another added that I would bring Poch to United,” said another fan.
One added: ‘Man United now sack ETH and sign Poch’.
‘I would take Poch now! He’s the one who got away! If Ten Hag leaves, we have to get Poch!’ said another, noting that United were in the race to sign the former Tottenham manager.
In 2022, speculation had arisen that the Red Devils had shortlisted Pochettino as a potential management target to succeed agent Michael Carrick, following the departure of interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
