Man United enjoy a team bonding night out – just a three-minute walk from where Man City rivals were winning PFA Awards while they were snubbed – as forgotten star joins party at plush Chinese

Manchester United’s players enjoyed a night out to bolster their squad at the chic Chinese restaurant Tattu, just a three-minute walk from where rivals Manchester City won the PFA Awards on Tuesday night.

Although Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, goalscorers in Man United’s FA Cup final triumph over City, were shortlisted for the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year Award, it was City who comfortably won the awards, with Phil Foden being crowned Men’s Players’ Player of the Year.

Erling Haaland and Rodri were also shortlisted for the prestigious award and were named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season along with City captain Kyle Walker.

They all attended the awards ceremony at Manchester Opera House in Deansgate, while the United stars enjoyed a night out around the corner.

Following their late win against Fulham on Friday night, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund were all spotted heading to the luxury restaurant.

Even Garnacho and Mainoo, who were in contention for a PFA Award, appeared to ignore the ceremony and instead went to the Chinese restaurant with their teammates.

Located on Gartside Street in Spinningfields, Tattu was a popular meeting place for footballers in the past.

After winning the Treble in 2023, several City stars including Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan joined staff at the Manchester restaurant for a celebratory meal after partying all night in the city.

In 2018, City’s team celebrated their victory again at the Chinese restaurant. The club hired the entire restaurant and 500 staff attended the party.

Meanwhile, United will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2023-24 campaign this season, despite beating their city rivals to win the FA Cup in May.

Erik ten Hag’s team has been active on the transfer market this summer. Last week it was announced that Bayern Munich had acquired defenders Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The club has a combined value of £60 million.

The former Bayern Munich stars were spotted among the players joining Tattu on Tuesday evening, along with Casemiro, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen.

After key defenders were repeatedly injured last season, new technical director Dan Ashworth made it a priority to strengthen the Red Devils’ defence. United also signed French centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille.

But the Red Devils have been dealt a major blow after linking the 18-year-old to a £52million contract. The young defender suffered a metatarsal injury during his team’s recent friendly against Arsenal during their pre-season tour of Los Angeles.

Yoro was seen walking to the restaurant on crutches on Tuesday night. United confirmed last week that he had undergone successful surgery on his foot injury. The club confirmed that he will be sidelined for three months as he undergoes rehabilitation.

Casemiro, who impressed in United’s Premier League opener against Fulham, was also pictured with his teammates on their way to the posh restaurant.

There are growing questions surrounding the Brazilian’s future at the club after an indifferent season in midfield in 2023-24.

However, reports on Tuesday evening suggested that United are keen to keep hold of the midfielder and see how he performs this season, having noticed his upturn in pre-season.

According to The Sun, Ten Hag and his leadership team are keen to keep hold of him, despite the 32-year-old being set to be sacked along with several other stars. Casemiro has two years left on his contract and United could be keen to keep him if Fulham pay £35m for Scott McTominay this summer.

Interestingly, the United Scottish midfielder was not in the photo with his teammates as they entered the restaurant.

This comes as Serie A club Napoli have shown interest in loaning the midfielder, but Mail Sport understands United will only agree to a permanent departure for their youth player.
