A major European club is reportedly considering a transfer for Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

The £70million Brazilian star, set to cost 2022, started United’s first three games of the season but endured a nightmare spell on Sunday as his side succumbed 3-0 to Liverpool, giving away the ball for the Reds’ first two goals before being substituted at half-time.

His place in Erik ten Hag’s starting line-up is now at stake with the arrival of newcomer Manuel Ugarte, while Casemiro could also leave Old Trafford before United return to action after the international break.

According to ESPNCasemiro has been shortlisted by Galatasaray for midfielders ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday, September 13.

United were open to selling the 32-year-old all summer, but there was no significant interest from Saudi Arabia.

Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher has called for United to move on from Casemiro in recent months.

In a scathing assessment of Casemiro’s performance during United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in May, Carragher urged the club to ‘buy him off’ and told the former Real Madrid star to ‘fuck it’.

He was again critical of Casemiro last weekend, admitting it was ‘sad to see him struggling when United were clearly outclassed by their biggest rivals.

Casemiro’s wife Anna Mariana sent a defiant message to her husband’s critics on Sunday night when she posted a photo of his gleaming trophy cabinet in the house where they live together.

But the United midfielder’s future is uncertain with the Turkish transfer window still open for nine days.

Casemiro enjoyed a stellar debut for the club but has struggled since, with the Brazilian forced to play a large part of 2023-24 at centre-back due to United’s injury crisis in defence.
