Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of former Arsenal doctor Gary O’Driscoll, who will take up the role of head of sports medicine for men, women and their academy.

O’Driscoll spent 14 years at Arsenal before deciding to leave the club in the summer and has now made the move to Old Trafford.

The move comes after Man United recently faced criticism in the medical department as Erik ten Hag’s team suffered from an injury crisis.

The Red Devils did not see twelve players in action against Bayern Munich in midweek due to injury-related problems.

Man United have now confirmed O’Driscoll’s arrival on their official club website.

O’Driscoll spent 14 years at Arsenal before deciding to leave the club this summer

He had a strong relationship with Mikel Arteta, as evidenced by Arsenal’s All or Nothing documentary

The move comes after former Man United doctor Steve McNally left last season, with an interim role in charge.

McNally left after 17 years at the club and has now been replaced as O’Driscoll prepares for his new role.

The medicine expert will be familiar to Arsenal fans as he appeared in their All or Nothing documentary with Amazon.

During his time with the Gunners he held medical briefings with Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff.

It remains to be seen whether he will do the same at Old Trafford, with the club revealing he has been a lifelong Man United fan.

O’Driscoll will look to make his impact as quickly as possible as United have lost three of their five opening Premier League games this season.
