Man United ‘confident of signing Harry Kane in the summer if Tottenham finish outside the top four’

Manchester United are “sure to get Harry Kane this summer if Tottenham miss out on the top four”, and the Red Devils “have been buoyed up after contacting the England captain’s camp via a third party”.

Manchester United are reportedly confident they can make a surprising move for Harry Kane if Tottenham fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Speculation continues to surround Kane’s future at Tottenham, with the England captain unlikely to win a trophy with his club once again this season.

Sun they have now reported that United are increasingly confident they can get Kane this summer, if they fail to secure a top-four berth.

They are said to feel Spurs will drop their £100m asking price if Tottenham do not play in Europe’s elite competition next season.

United’s camp is also said to have been encouraged by a response they received, after contacting Kane’s camp through a third party.

Harry Kane is the subject of interest from Manchester United and his contract expires next year.

Manchester United feel they can sign Kane if Tottenham don’t finish in the top four

Spurs are currently in fourth place but will face fierce competition from Liverpool and Newcastle in the closing months of the season.

They are also still in the Champions League but are not one of the favorites to win the competition and are 1-0 down heading into the round of 16 second leg with AC Milan.

Kane’s contract at Tottenham is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and there are fears the club could lose their star striker for nothing if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

The 30-year-old, who earns £200,000 a week, could be easier to secure if Tottenham don’t play in the Champions League before the final season of his contract.

When discussing a possible new deal in January, Kane said: ‘There hasn’t been much talk. I’m sure there will be talks in the coming months, but I’m just focused on this season and doing my best.

Manchester United are reportedly encouraged by the initial response they received after taking over Kane’s camp through a third party.

“I know there will be rumors about my future, but I am focused on what I can do.”

In the summer of 2021, Kane was looking forward to a move to Manchester City, where he thought he had a better chance of fulfilling his ambitions of winning major trophies.

That move didn’t happen and two years on, it seems unlikely that Kane will have a major trophy to his name, unless Tottenham can turn things around against AC Milan and have a great Champions League run.

Manchester United need a new striker after failing to sign Cody Gakpo, who scored twice against them in Liverpool’s 7-0 win on Sunday in January, and signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley.

A new striker could give Ten Hag’s side more attacking options as they look to challenge for the title next season.
