The FA has revealed that a Manchester United coach has been charged with misconduct after United defeated Brentford last weekend.
As the match entered first-half stoppage time goalless, referee Samuel Barrott forced Matthijs de Ligt off the field to be treated for a heavily bleeding head wound.
With the Dutch defender on the touchline, Brentford took the lead through an Ethan Pinnock header that caused chaos on a technical level.
Both Erik ten Hag and his assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy were shown yellow cards for their reactions on the touchline, while an animated Darren Fletcher angrily protested the decision as both teams left the field before half-time.
A statement from the FA said: ‘Darren Fletcher has been charged with misconduct following Manchester United’s match against Brentford on Saturday 20 October in the Premier League.
‘It is alleged that the coach acted inappropriately and/or confrontationally and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official and the referee and/or assistant referees.
“Darren Fletcher has until Tuesday, October 29 to respond.”
