Man United co-owner Avram Glazer IGNORES questions about proposed takeover at FA Cup final

Man United co-owner Avram Glazer IGNORE questions about proposed takeover during FA Cup final…with maligned US chefs holding £6bn from Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari bidders amid fan protests

Avram Glazer brushed aside all questions about the proposed takeover of Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Sunday.

Glazer, 62, one of the English giants’ deeply unpopular co-owners, watched at Wembley Stadium as United lost the FA Cup final 2-1 to rivals Manchester City.

And after the game, Glazer was approached by Sky with questions about the long-running takeover saga.

He was asked: ‘Are you sure you will sell Manchester United? Do you agree with Jim Ratcliffe or Qatari’s offer?

“Why don’t you talk to the fans? Don’t the fans deserve to know what’s happening with the takeover?’

But despite clearly hearing the reporter, Glazer marched right past him, refusing to make eye contact or acknowledge his presence.

His stance could anger fans if they get genuine questions about the state of the long-running potential takeover, which will see the Glazers hold out for £6bn.

The Glazer family have run the club for over 15 years since acquiring a majority shareholding in 2005, and have presided over a deteriorating relationship between the owner and the Old Trafford faithful.

The family’s reign at the club could end this summer as a long-rumoured takeover finally appears to be getting under way.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, of Qatar, and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the only publicly interested parties in a full takeover, with a recent report from the Sun claiming that Ratcliffe is the Glazers’ preferred bidder.

However, sources close to both future new owners of the club claimed last month that stories of Ratcliffe now in pole position may in fact be part of a strategic play by New York bankers Raine to push for even bigger bids from both sides. to extort.

The six Glazer siblings could reportedly retain shares in United as part of Ratcliffe’s staged takeover offer – as opposed to a full sale to Sheikh Jassim – sparking more anger among supporters.

Delays in the sale, as the Glazers keep £6bn afloat, could seriously affect manager Erik ten Hag’s plans to rebuild his squad this summer. Mail sportsChris Wheeler insists the “only winners of this chaotic affair” are the Glazers.

The Glazers have had a fractious relationship with the club’s fans during their time in charge

Last month pundit and United club legend Gary Neville ripped into the Glazer family for handling the Man United takeover process ‘unprofessionally’.

The Red Devils have been looking for a new owner for months and seemed to be heading for a possible announcement earlier in May.

Reports suggested that Ratcliffe had been identified as the preferred bidder to buy the club from the Glazer family, but has not been given the green light to begin the takeover.

And as United fans remain in the dark about the matter, former right-back Neville has expressed his displeasure with the situation on social media.

Take to his Twitter page on Wednesday morning, Neville wrote: “Obviously, the Glazer family won’t disclose ownership until the season is over!

“They’ve been running it unprofessionally for weeks and months now. They know that fan protests would have been more important than they already are if matches were still being played and the end result of the sales process was not popular.

In fact, any fans staying inside would be considered unacceptable. Is this why they wait?’.

After announcing during the World Cup that they were looking for new revenue streams, be it an investment in the club or an outright sale, there has been much speculation surrounding United and its potential next owners.
