A Vietnamese man with a headache was found to have chopsticks lodged in his skull.
Doctors claim the chopsticks were stabbed into the unidentified 35-year-old’s head during a fight five months earlier.
His family told local media that he was ‘injured’ during the drunken brawl and was receiving treatment at the time.
But he reportedly had no idea he had been stabbed by a pair of chopsticks.
The CT scan of the 35-year-old man’s skull shows chopsticks protruding from his nose. The stuck chopsticks caused him to develop severe headaches and fluid discharge
The family explained to medics that the chopsticks were stuck up his nose during a fight while he was drinking
Even doctors missed them when they initially cared for him, according to the Dan Tri newspaper.
Cong Luan, another Vietnamese news publisher, reported that the man sought medical attention after suffering from severe headaches, fluid discharge and vision loss.
Scans made by surgeons at the Cuba The Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, Quang Binh Province was shown he had a ‘foreign object’ in his skull.
It is said that it entered his skull through his nose.
He also had pneumocephalus, which is the presence of gas or air in the skull.
It is a life-threatening neurosurgical emergency, normally caused by head trauma.
Although the man was initially baffled by how the chopsticks ended up in his skull, his family later recalled that he was involved in a fight while drinking about five months ago.
His family recalled that he was stabbed in the face by something during the fight and was taken to the emergency room, according to the local newspaper.
The man’s condition is now stable and he has been released from hospital.
