Man slammed as ‘utterly disgusting’ after bragging about how he saves $153 a week while eating out

A stingy restaurant has been branded ‘completely disgusting’ after bragging about how he saved around $153 a week while eating out.

The anonymous customer from Los Angeles has dedicated his entire account to showing people how he hacked the service industry to save money for himself.

In each video, he takes viewers to coffee shops, high-end restaurants and bars, leaving a $0 tip on every bill.

In one clipposted on June 8, the man calculated he saved $152.92 in one week by avoiding tips — despite acknowledging his “very helpful and friendly” servers.

His posts quickly divided the internet, with some applauding the influencer for his penny-pinching tactics, and others lambasting him for not offering servers extra money in an industry that relies primarily on tips.

“That is absolutely disgusting,” said one user, while another noted, “A trend I can get behind.”

Overall, his expenses for the week were $674.41, but if he had included 20 percent tips, his total would have been about $810.

The customer decided to start anti-fall prevention after being overwhelmed by one experience.

“After I ordered a Danish that cost $3, the cashier turned the iPad over and I saw: tip options of $1, $2, $3; $3 tip for a sandwich that costs $3, man,” he told the New York Post.

In his videos, which he started posting in early June, the man walked into many establishments, commented on his experiences and showed how much he paid for his tab.

In a clip posted on June 13, the man and his friend dined at an expensive restaurant and ordered a $175 pasta dish with extra truffles. Then at the end he showed the $389.47 bill and revealed that he skipped the tip, which would have cost an additional $77.89 at 20 percent or $97.40 at 25 percent.

During a night out at a bar, the TikToker ordered several drinks at Doheny Room in West Hollywood and once again didn’t tip the “friendly bartenders.”

He also chose to stay home one evening, ordering food from Uber Eats and leaving a $0 tip.

At the end of each video, the man asks his followers to recommend more places for him to enjoy and not tip.

Many commenters believed that TikToker did the right thing by not tipping when dining out.

“I love the no-tip trend,” said one.

Another called him ‘the man of the people’.

“You are an inspiration to us all,” wrote another.

But many were unimpressed by his casual approach to dining, especially when it came to not tipping at restaurants and bars.

“I don’t get a tipping policy if they don’t get served, but no tip about a regular restaurant is sneaky,” one user said.

“What’s wrong with you?” wrote another.

“This isn’t something to brag about, buddy. Bartenders in the United States rely on tips to pay their bills,” one person said.

The federal minimum wage for tipped employees is $2.13 per hour. In California, where the video was shot, tipped workers make $16 an hour, while fast food workers at major chains make $20 an hour.
