A man has candidly revealed how his 106-year-old grandmother defied all odds to become a centenarian.

Content creator Alex Traynor, 33, recorded it TikTok to share a now-viral video that showcased his grandma’s sense of humor.

In the clip, Doris Brown, of East Haddam, Connecticut, discussed a range of topics, including what it was like to live through World War II and how she wanted to be remembered.

And social media users quickly showered the comments with praise.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 19 million times to date, Alex begins, “We assumed my grandma would die next year, every year my whole life — and here she is at 106 years old.”

Doris then appears on camera saying, “I can’t hear, I can’t see, half the time I don’t know what I’m talking about.”

Alex reveals that it was “easier to name cancers she hasn’t had” before admitting that his grandmother still makes him breakfast.

Speaking of how Doris “refuses to stop living,” Alex ponders what her secret might be.

But it is clear that the centenarian, who still drinks alcohol, has never been one to shy away from life’s vices.

She said: ‘In those days you could just smoke while you worked – right at your desk.

‘I had to be [having] at least a pack a day.’

Alex, who has more than 235,000 followers on the video-sharing platform, explains, “When she was 48, she had a heart attack so bad they read her her last rituals, and guess what? She outlived everyone in that room.

In the clip, Doris discussed a range of topics, including what it was like to live through World War II and how she wanted to be remembered.

Alex asks her what World War II was like, to which she replies, “We partied, it was crazy.”

‘We drank a lot, smoked. When you’re young, you’re young – and what do you do? You party.’

In a poignant part of the clip, comedian Alex asks his grandmother how she would like to be remembered.

She replies, “As a fairly good person, but I don’t want to take credit.”
