- When the ball damaged his property and smashed a lamp, that was the last straw
A fed up neighbor has sent a desperate letter to the house next door after a child threw a ball in his yard one too many times.
The note came as the last straw for musician Peter Chen when his neighbor’s children kicked a ball over the fence and smashed one of his outdoor lamps.
Peter, who goes by the Twitter name @javelinface, was furious after the latest incident, to which he responded with a polite note taped to the ball he returned one last time.

The amicable note informed his neighbors that this would be the last time he would return the ball
The last straw: Musician Peter Chan shared a photo of how he reacted to his neighbors after their kids kicked a ball in his garden and broke one of his outside lights
He posted: “Neighbor’s kids keep throwing things over the fence. Balls. Toy cars. Shoes. Bottles. Waste. Keys. Today they threw a ball over and smashed our sidelight.’
His note read: “Hello, just letting you know this ball smashed our light bulb on the side street.
“If you could let the kids know that this is the last time we will return the ball, it would be appreciated. Thanks – Peter (from next door).’
Twitter users praised Peter’s calm demeanor, with one admitting, “This is a much nicer note than I would have left, that’s for sure.”
Another related to his frustration, they wrote, “Sorry. Our neighbor’s boy is constantly kicking his ball, sometimes two or three in our yard every day. We throw it back and 10 minutes later it’s over again. The father is an asshole, so there will be no contact with them.’

In updating his post, Peter said: ‘The parents’ excuse is that their child has just been diagnosed with ADHD.
He added, “I would like to empathize, but I was extremely ADHD as a child and still knew boundaries. Because I have ADHD myself, I empathize less.
Trying to see the brighter side of the situation, he said, “I think the neighbors realize how much their kids annoy us.
“Someone must have had a talk with the ‘men’ of the house to stop parking on our front berm, to try to keep some semblance of peace between the neighbors. The father must influence the children badly.’
The post follows a number of neighbor disputes that have taken the internet by storm, including a homeowner who took “rainbow revenge” on her neighbors after they ripped up her flower garden.
User @Specialist-Orchid-86 revealed on Reddit that she got her revenge in the most colorful way by painting their neighbor’s fence different colors.
‘The neighbor cut down the flower garden in front of my fence again, so I unscrewed each post and painted its side. (Yes, it’s my fence),’ she explained.
A photograph of the garden showed wooden planks from the fence painted red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
