Man on the run after stabbing in Marrickville, Sydney outside Guzman y Gomez – as distressed brother’s heartbreaking act is revealed

A man is on the run after a fatal stabbing on a busy street outside a popular Sydney restaurant.

Emergency services rushed to Marrickville Road at around 7.40pm on Monday evening after reports were received that a man had been stabbed in front of Guzman Y Gomez.

Police and ambulance personnel performed CPR on the injured man, but he could not be resuscitated and died at the scene.

Family members and friends rushed to the scene of the disaster, wanting to see the man covered in a white sheet.

Witnesses heard the man’s mother’s “heart-wrenching” screams as his brother quickly lifted the sheet covering the body.

Police restrained the distraught man, who screamed: “It’s my fucking brother, don’t touch me,” before officers tasered him.

Other relatives of the victim were panicked and heard crying as police, flashlights in hand, searched the crime scene and questioned nearby shopkeepers.

The relatives of the deceased were taken to hospital by the police, after which the crime scene was cordoned off.
