A man has captured the hearts of millions after putting in the extensive planning required to create the perfect proposal.
Barrington Dave, 29, from Dallas, Texas, explained on TikTok that he and his girlfriend, Kennedy Kinnard, were planning a trip to New York City over the Christmas season.
Realizing that the outing would be a great place to pop the question, Barrington set his sights on one of the most romantic spots in the city: the ice skating rink in front of the dazzling Rockefeller tree.
The only problem? Kennedy had no idea how to skate.
But Barrington was determined and devised an elaborate plan to get her on the ice.
“So a few months ago I knew I wanted to propose in front of the Rockerfeller tree,” he wrote in his now-viral post. videowhich has now been viewed 13 million times.
“I knew Kennedy couldn’t skate, so I had to get her on skates before we went to New York City.”
Barrington explained that he asked Kennedy to go on a skating date with him “months” before the trip so he could get a sense of how good or bad she really was on the ice.

‘One Sunday I told her that I wanted to skate to see if my goal was achievable. We had a rough start, but after a while on the ice I felt confident [enough] in her ability to book the rink at Rockerfeller Center on skates,” he continued.
When the big day arrived, Barrington revealed it the weather was “terrible” and Kennedy was hesitant to skate.
Fortunately, he was able to convince her to ‘drive a few laps’, and ‘stopped’ when the workers had the ice cleared for them.
“The weather really was a fiasco,” he said. ‘Kennedy wanted to get off the ice as quickly as possible, I just kept waiting for them to clear the ice for us. All the practice came down to this moment.”
Barrington said Kennedy didn’t want to let go of the wall, but he was determined to propose in the middle of the ice.
“I just wanted to get us to the middle of the ice. All the time I just [kept saying]“Kennedy, it’s fine, you’re not going to fall,” he recalled.
He finally got Kennedy to come with him, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him as a slew of onlookers watched.
She said yes, and the crowd erupted in cheers.

‘Everything went perfectly. I’m glad I trusted my gut,” Barrington concluded.
During a conversation with the New York Post about this, Kennedy said she was overwhelmed by her now-fiancé’s actions.
“Once I realized what was going on, I thought, ‘Wow, he put all his thought and effort into this.’ It was just so, so moving,” she said. ‘It was absolutely perfect.’
She jokingly added, “I had no idea it was happening that day… I had a pimple patch on it.”
