A man has been arrested after allegedly raping his three-year-old daughter in Brazil on Father’s Day.
The unnamed man, 46, was detained by police in Montes Claros in the state of Minas Gerais on Sunday, August 13 – Father’s Day in Brazil – when the young girl later complained that she was in pain.
The girl was visiting her father to celebrate the holiday when the alleged sexual abuse took place, according to the regional newspaper Oh pace.
Her horrified mother immediately informed authorities of her daughter’s claim and, according to Brazilian media, took the girl to hospital for a medical examination.

The 43-year-old mother became suspicious when the girl’s father did not return her at 6 p.m. as agreed.
The couple separated before their daughter was born, but continued to live near each other, and the girl had spent time at her father’s apartment during the day.
After unsuccessfully trying to contact her former partner for 90 minutes, he arrived around 7:30 pm.
When the girl’s mother went down to pick her up, she found the man apparently drunk, with her daughter lying on a nearby bench.
Shortly after returning home, the girl began to complain of pain and explained what her father had done.
Brazilian media reported that police first visited the hospital to take statements from the girl and her mother before descending on the father’s apartment.
The incident report showed that he appeared intoxicated and vigorously resisted arrest before attempting to flee.
Officers eventually managed to restrain him and arrested him on suspicion of child abuse and rape of a vulnerable person, crimes punishable by up to 15 years in prison in Brazil.
The gruesome case comes amid reports that a 29-year-old woman in France was violently raped by a man who was also accused of sexually assaulting his young sister.

The victim is still in a coma fighting for her life 11 days after medics spent hours operating on her extensive injuries.
“Detectives are shocked, they have never seen so much barbarity,” a source familiar with the case told Le Figaro.
It has now emerged that Oumar N. is already under investigation for sexually assaulting his 12-year-old sister last year, a police source said. Le Figaro.
