Man ‘had penis bitten off and eaten by dog’: Horror as man is found with missing genitals after neighbors investigate non-stop barking

  • Police arrived at the man’s home in Herne, Germany, around 2 a.m. on Tuesday
  • They said the dog is ‘about the size of a Jack Russell terrier’ and that while they were keeping the lines of inquiry open, this was likely the cause of the injury

A man suffered a horrific ordeal in Germany this week when his dog ‘about the size of a Jack Russel’ bit off and ate his penis, police said.

Neighbors alerted police early Tuesday morning due to the incessant barking of the dog that came from the man’s home around 2 a.m.

Upon arriving at the property – a single-family home in Herne, northwestern Germany, first responders heard pained groans coming from inside.

At this point they broke down the door to find the 66-year-old man and his dog.

Police soon realized the man’s life was in danger and he was rushed to hospital.

According to the German tabloid Bild, neither the man’s penis nor “an instrument of crime” has been recovered so far.

The victim is also unable to provide information due to his health.

According to officials, the most likely hypothesis being considered is that the dog was the cause of the man’s injuries.

First Police Chief Inspector Frank Lemanis told Bild that the man had been put into an induced coma upon arrival at the hospital.

Lemanis, from the Bochum police, told the German tabloid: ‘The man has been put into an artificial coma by the doctors. We hope we can interview him soon.

‘One hypothesis, of course, is that the dog, which is about the size of a Jack Russell terrier, bit off the penis and ate it. The wound can also be a bite wound.

“But it could also be a sexual accident or a crime,” he said.

Although the incident took place on Monday evening, police are now making the sensitive case public in an appeal for witnesses.

Bild reported that a murder squad has taken up the case to “clear up the crime, which until now was completely open.”

If the police chief’s assumption is correct, it would not be the first time such an incident has been reported.

In 2012, German media reported that a 61-year-old Austrian man was attacked by a stray dog that also bit his genitals.

The man was riding his bicycle when he was attacked.

He was also rushed to hospital, where surgeons were able to save the man’s genitals after an operation that lasted several hours.

The dog and its owner were never found.
