A man has died after being pulled unconscious from the water at a Sydney surf park.
Emergency services rushed to URBNSURF in Sydney Olympic Park shortly before noon on Wednesday after a 70-year-old man fell from his board and never surfaced.
The man was pulled from the water before resuscitation could be performed on site.
He was taken to Concord Hospital in critical condition, but died shortly after arrival.
In a statement, the surf park said it has temporarily closed the facility after a guest suffered a “medical incident.”
“The URBNSURF team arrived on scene to support and care for the guest prior to the arrival of emergency services,” they told The Daily Telegraph.
“Our highest priority is the health, safety and well-being of our guests and employees. Our thoughts are with them at this time.”
The recently opened surf pool is closed until further notice.
Police are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
The death is not considered suspicious.
