Tragedy as swimmer is found dead in waters off Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula

A man has been found dead in the waters off a popular beach on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

A jet skier contacted emergency services on Friday after discovering the unconscious man in the waters off Tyrone Beach, near Butler Street in Rye.

The man was brought ashore, but despite CPR he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has yet to be formally identified and Victoria Police are investigating.

“The exact circumstances are yet to be established, but the death is not being treated as suspicious,” a spokesperson said.
