A man in India beheaded his wife and allegedly took the severed head to the park to dance with it.

Gautam Guchhait, 40, from Chistipur village near Calcutta, believed his wife Phulrani, 27, had been unfaithful and brutally murdered her in revenge.

This comes three years after he made headlines around the world for jumping into a zoo’s lion enclosure and being rescued by staff.

The killer seen in the video, soaked in his wife’s blood, used a knife to cut off her head.

He then took the head, still dripping with blood, through the village and showed what he had done.

The video shows the man holding the head by the hair, lifting it up and warning locals to stay away.

Guchhait was seen by locals who took the head to the park where he started dancing with it.

When he was done, he carried it to a bench, placed it next to him and sat down.

There he was arrested.

Guchhait claimed that his wife had been having an affair behind his back and that this was his reasoning behind the beheading.

He was taken into custody and police officers searched his home where they found the rest of the body.

Soumyadwip Bhattacharya of the district police said, “The motive for the murder will become clear to us only after a thorough investigation.

“Based on the evidence, we believe the murder may have been the result of a family dispute.”

This is not the first time Guchhait has made headlines.

In 2021, he decided to buy a ticket to a zoo, walked around for a morning – and then jumped into a lion cage.

At that time he was said to be dressed like a holy man and drunk.

After being mauled and suffering injuries to his shoulder and neck, he was rescued by zoo staff taken to West Bengal city SSKM hospital for emergency care.

The cage was home to an endangered Asiatic lion, native to the Gir forest in Junagadh district of Gujarat.
