Man City’s Erling Haaland leaves Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in stitches after brutal putdown

Erling Haaland leaves Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in stitches after a brutal takedown, while joking that Thierry Henry is the “only one who knows how to score a lot of goals” after the Man City striker scored FIVE against RB Leipzig.

Erling Haaland couldn’t resist taking aim at Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards after scoring five goals in Manchester City’s 7-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

The Champions League round of 16 tie looked to be on a knife-edge heading into the second leg after a 1-1 draw in Germany three weeks ago, but City produced a dominating performance with Haaland as their star. , while Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne also entered the scoresheet.

Haaland became the third player, after Lionel Messi and Brazil striker Luiz Adriano, to score five goals in a Champions League game, joining Carragher, Richards and Thierry Henry to discuss his performance afterwards.

Asked by CBS Sports Golazo host Jules Breach how it felt to achieve his rare goalscoring feat, he replied: ‘I think you’re the only one who can score a lot of goals!’ while he looked at Henry.

Former Premier League defenders Carragher and Richards took the joke well, as they immediately burst into a laugh along with Henry, with the former exclaiming “what a start (to the interview)!”

Haaland was also clearly proud of his joke after he questioned his goalscoring abilities.

Haaland now has 39 goals in his first season at City, and on Tuesday he reached 30 Champions League goals in just 25 games, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record by a staggering nine games.

However, the 22-year-old has come in for some criticism this season for his influence on City’s style of play, with Carragher himself wondering if Haaland had chosen the right club to bring out the best in him.

Haaland was asked how he could improve and he delivered a typically honest assessment of his game.

“I think I can improve on everything,” he replied.

I have been missing a lot of chances with my left foot. I was alone with the goalkeeper in the first half who should have scored. So left foot, right foot, I have to be much better. Head, combine, everything.

But if I have to take one, maybe to help the other players improve because this is something that I would love. To put people in better positions, attacking midfielders, going down, putting them in better positions so they get to the favorite positions they want to be in.”
